A primary focus of therapy is supporting people to discover what is important to them and helping them take steps towards it, regardless of what life is throwing at them. From our first interaction, I hope that my values of warmth and respect are felt and provide encouragement to engage in psychological support.
My role is to walk beside you during this period of your life and it is my belief that you are the expert on what will work. My goal over time is to ‘do myself out of a job’, to provide skills and support, and to shine a light on the knowledge about yourself that you already have. It is through the collaboration of my training with our exploration of your experience where change can occur.
I have a passion for supporting everyday people and their families to lead richer, more meaningful lives. Some of these everyday people play helper roles in our community – doctors, nurses, police, paramedics, teachers, armed services, volunteers, parents, support workers etc.
I draw on evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy and Mindfulness, to tailor a treatment to your specific needs. I am also interested in the on-line or telephone-based delivery of mental health services to those who may be rural/remote or residing in another country.
What is my ethos? I want to take time to learn what is important to you to enable us to take steps towards what you value. I want to create a therapy space that is warm, collaborative and non-judgemental.
